Its great news to all wildlife lovers who are visiting Wasgamuwa National Park.
The access Roads are being improved. It has taken some time. It is true, nevertheless, It  is finally reaching the final stages in most of the roads in the Wasgamuwa area.
One can, who is driving from Colombo or from that part of the country for instance, can take the Kandy Road up to Kandy and then Kandy- Mahiyangana (18 bends road) to reach Mahiyangana.
From there, it should be the Polonnaruwa Road (10 km) and from the T Bend take the straight road through Hebarawa. Come up to Nippon Bridge across the Mahaweli river and then drive 5-7 km up to Hettipola, the last sizeable town centre in Wasgamuwa area.
From Hettipola, you need to drive 15kms parallel to the Minipe Canal all the way to Wasgamuwa. The road ends at Wasgamuwa Park.
The roads are pretty good except in a few locations.
